Frequently asked questions

If you have a question that is not answered below, feel free to use the contact form and I will respond as soon as possible.

1. How does this work?

I offer a free meet and greet to meet you and your cat(s) so I can introduce myself and have a chat about their care. If you're happy to proceed with the booking, we can confirm the dates and arrange for key pick-up. During the booking, updates and pictures/videos are provided at each visit so you know how kitty is getting on.

2. What happens during a visit?

All your cat's basic needs will be taken care of: food, refilling the water bowls, litter box scooped, and medication administered if required. If you've got a sociable and playful kitty, we can play with their toys and keep them entertained. For the more reserved cat, I'm happy to sit and chat and keep them company.

3. How many visits do I need?

At least one visit a day is recommended, but if someone else is checking in on them, you have cameras, or kitty gets very stressed with strangers, I'm happy to do visits every other day. If your cat needs medication, is used to getting wet food twice a day, or you would just like them to have more company, twice-daily visits are an option. I also offer extended hour-long visits which may be suitable if you're away for an extended period.

4. My cat usually goes outside; will you let them out?

For insurance purposes I require cats be kept inside for the duration of the booking. I'm happy to take leash-trained cats outside, or allow them out into a fenced-in garden where there's no risk of escape.

5. My cat is very shy; is a cat sitter suitable for them?

Absolutely! I have looked after many cats who are on the quieter side. I conduct the visits on their terms and allow them to warm to me at their own pace.

6. What areas do you cover?

I'm located near Crossbarry and cover the surrounding areas, (approximately 15/20 km): Ballinhassig, Bandon, Bishopstown, Wilton, Innishannon, Riverstick, Belgooly. If you're located further than this but are interested in the serve, let me know; I am willing to travel a bit further than this, but may only offer one visit per day.

7. What times can you come?

The day starts at 6:30 AM and ends at 10:00 PM. Visits will be at the same time each day, give or take an hour, and twice-daily visits will be approximately 11/12 hours apart unless otherwise specified. If your cat has a strict routine or requires medication, I will do my best to ensure the visits are as close to that time as possible.

8. Are you insured?

Yes! I am happy to provide proof of insurance if requested.

9. I have cameras to keep an eye on my cats; are you okay with this?

Yes, no problem at all. I just ask that this be disclosed at the meet and greet.

10. Why should I get a cat sitter instead of a going to a cattery?

This is completely up to you; you know your cat(s) best. However, in my experience, most cats, especially seniors or more shy kitties, do better with drop-in visits to their own home where their routine is uninterrupted and they can stay in familiar surroundings.
